Angie Miller, MS.Ed, LMHC
Welcome!
Hey there. I’m Angie Miller, the owner of Sparrow Mental Health and a licensed mental health counselor and therapist in Bloomington, IN. If you’ve found yourself here, chances are high that you’ve been thinking about starting therapy for a while now. The process can be intimidating, but I want to make it feel as smooth as possible for you because therapy is, after all, quite a vulnerable experience. You’re already doing a lot just by showing up!
My goal as a clinician is to create a strong bond of trust with my clients by ensuring they each experience an environment of safety, warmth, and personal growth. I enjoy using psychodynamic and person-centered approaches, and I will occasionally interweave cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as needed to help address problematic thinking patterns and foster strong coping skills. I am a Christian, though not all my clients identify in this way and that’s totally okay. But it is important to know that my philosophy as a therapist takes root in the Christian value that every human being has intrinsic worth, and I thoroughly enjoy exploring the intersection of faith, humanity, and mental health. It can get a bit existential at times, but my ideal client would find themselves enlivened by this kind of engagement.
I am trained in I-CBT for the treatment of OCD, and for those who have experienced relational trauma, I utilize ego-state and attachment-based work to help bring a sense of balance and restoration into your relationships. I received both my undergrad and graduate degrees from right here in Bloomington at Indiana University and have been practicing for around four years now.
I am both a wife and a mother, which has given me a passion for working with both couples and parents who want to get the most out of these relationships. And in my free time, I enjoy traveling, getting creative, reading, and being a #plantmom.
